What Happens on All-on-X Implant Day? A Rome, NY Patient Guide
If you've decided on All-on-X implants, or you're getting close, your next questions are usually about the day itself: how it's planned, whether you can be sedated, how long it takes and when you'll have your final teeth. This guide walks through All-on-X treatment at Rome Dental & Implant Center, from the 3D scan that plans your new smile to the zirconia teeth that finish it, so you know what each step looks like before you book.
What happens before All-on-X implant day?
Most of the careful work for All-on-X happens before treatment day, so the day itself follows a plan you've already talked through. Your first visit is a comprehensive exam with Dr. Jonathan Candido, so he understands your full dental health before he recommends anything.
Most people's first worry about an implant is the surgery itself, which is why the planning comes first. We take a 3D CBCT scan in our office to see the bone beneath your teeth. Dr. Candido maps exactly where each implant will sit, then has a guide made for your mouth so the day goes the way it was planned. He only does guided implant surgery, and he'll add extra steps when they make your result more predictable.
Some patients need bone grafting first. A graft may be needed when the jawbone isn't thick enough or is too soft to hold an implant, as Mayo Clinic's guide to dental implant surgery explains. If that applies to you, Dr. Candido will explain why and build it into your plan. You'll get a clear price before anything starts, and our All-on-X cost guide covers what's included.
Can I be sedated for All-on-X implant surgery?
Yes, if you're 18 or older and Dr. Candido approves it based on your health history. He offers oral conscious sedation, a pill you take before your visit, and IV sedation, which brings a deeper calm for longer treatment like All-on-X implants.
You'll need someone to drive you home after a sedation visit, and we'll give you clear instructions ahead of time. You can read more about both options on our sedation dentistry page.
Before he begins, Dr. Candido asks whether you'd like everything explained step by step or would like to close your eyes and relax. He takes his time either way, with pillows, blankets and something to squeeze in your hand if that helps.
How long does All-on-X treatment day take?
All-on-X day is a longer appointment, so we schedule it on days set aside for it. We keep Sunday to Wednesday for appointments like All-on-X full mouth implants, so those longer visits get the unhurried time they deserve. How long you'll be with us depends on your own plan, so ask Dr. Candido at your exam what your visit will look like.
Dr. Candido handles everything himself, from the consultation and 3D planning to placing the implants and fitting your final teeth. The dentist who planned your case is the one beside you on treatment day, and there's one team to call with questions afterward. As he puts it, "We give you all the time and energy in the world."
You can see how the whole treatment fits together on our All-on-X full mouth implants page.
When will I get my final All-on-X teeth?
Your final teeth go in after your implants have healed. Dental implants are posts placed in the jaw, and over time the bone grows around each one and holds it in place. According to the American Dental Association's MouthHealthy guide to implants, that healing can take several months before the replacement teeth are attached, and temporary teeth may be used in the meantime.
Your final All-on-X teeth are made of zirconia. Our All-on-X price is $14,000 per arch, and the final zirconia teeth are not included and carry an additional fee, which we'll go over with you before treatment. Every price depends on your exam and Dr. Candido's approval.
Financing is available through CareCredit, Cherry, Lending Club, Proceed and Alphaeon, subject to credit approval, and you'll save when you pay in cash or start treatment the same day.
Why do Rome, NY patients choose Rome Dental & Implant Center for All-on-X?
At our Rome dental office, one dentist plans and finishes your whole case, close to home. Dr. Candido opened Rome Dental & Implant Center in 2024 so people in Rome, Utica, Oneida and Verona could get implants, sedation and cosmetic care from a dentist who gets to know them. In his words, "No reason to drive to Syracuse, no reason to drive to Utica."
Dr. Candido has been in dentistry since he trained as a dental assistant at 14, and implants are still his favorite part of the work. He places every implant with a guide made from your 3D scan, and when a case calls for someone else, he'll tell you honestly and help you find the right place.
